First Open Internacional J-80 La Manga hoping to gather Europe’s best sail crew

Published on July 7th of 2011 – Printed Edition Nº 53

During the first half of September La Manga will be holding a very important international regatta. The first Open Internacional J-80 La Manga is looking to congregate renowned competitors in the sailing field in this highly competitive tournament. This is part of the La Manga Nautical Tourism Competitivity Plan which is hoping to finance one large event over the next four years. The idea is that the budget then be taken over by an institution or business for forthcoming summers in order for the tournament to go ahead while the LA Manga Plan gets destined for other large scale events which, in turn, would also be aimed at private takeovers. This proposal would go ahead until 2014 with the aim of having at least one of the major four events – or all of them – lasting well into the future.

 1st part of September

Returning to the La Manga J80 International Open; it s to be held during the first half of September. The dates set look to provide an appealing continuity to the summer season and to attract a larger number of visitors. The exact competition layout has not yet been announced, namely the regatta categories and characteristics although this will probably be revealed in the coming weeks.
