La Manga and Los Belones results alone stand at PP 54% while PIDM gets 25.8%. Indepenent La Manga candidate gets little support in Los Belones leading to no representation in council office
The Partido Popular’s municipal candidates, Pilar Barreiro in Cartagena and Juan Martinez Pastor in San Javier, have taken more than 50% of the vote from La Manga, Cabo de Palos and Los Belones. A total of 1615 people voted for the party from the right translating to 53.9% making up an electoral turnout of 2991 altogether.
The second placed party in the area was the Partido Independiente Dos Mares (PIDM) who notched up 774 votes for both of its candidates. In other parts of Cartagena PIDM managed 199 more votes and in San Javier the figure was 35 votes more.
Centred on this area the battle between PP and PIDM was more evident in the La Manga ward than in Los Belones. Figures from the polling stations based at the CP Mediterraneo school and the San Javier library indicated that the local party exceeded 30% of the vote while the Partido Popular party was nearer the 50% figure. But in Los Belones the difference was much more in favour of the PP where Pilar Barreiro’s candidacy took 63.5% compared to PIDM’s 14.3%
The area’s overall numbers read PIDM reaching 25.8% of the valid votes cast, a number which more than doubles the next placed position in third– PSOE- who took 11.3% of the vote. In the La Manga-San Javier ward Arantxa Espeso (Independientes San Javier) came in fourth position.
